Emma Sadleir will be visiting for her important talks on digital safety with Classes 5 to 12 and a then a special talk for parents on Monday evening. See details and links to book your spot below. Booking is essential.
Class 2 will be performing their play, Class 3 heads off on camp to Bloublommetjieskloof biodynamic farm, and our community gathers for the Trustee and Parent Forum meetings. We’ll also be welcoming the new Class 1 parents for 2026 and ending the week with Market Day.

From Monday to Wednesday, our Grade 5s and 6s set off for an adventure at High Africa Adventure Centre in the beautiful Worcester Winelands. Nestled on the banks of the Breede River, High Africa provided a wonderful backdrop for the school camp, with plenty of space for the children to explore and enjoy a variety of outdoor activities.
The students were kept busy with exciting challenges, from soaring across the air on zip lines from a large platform about 12 meters above the ground, paddling along the river in kayaks, to testing their strength and courage on rock climbs. They also had the chance to cook some of their own meals, adding a touch of independence and teamwork to the experience. The children returned brimming with new confidence and laughter, carrying with them memories of friendship, achievement, and adventure from the camp.
With so many of the older grades away on camp this week, our Grade 1s, 2s, and 3s created their own little adventure right here at school. They spent hours whizzing down waterslides, sharing laughter, and soaking up the simple delight of being together. When the Grade 5s and 6s returned from their camp, they joined in the fun and enjoyed the waterslides too, adding even more energy and joy to the day. A bright reminder that happiness can be found wherever we choose to make it.
Work on the reconstruction of the High School staff room is now underway and progressing beautifully. The new space will be similar in size to the previous one, offering a refreshed and functional environment for our teachers to gather and prepare for their lessons. Completion is expected before the end of the month.
A message from Polly, a student from Germany who visited our Grade 8 class earlier this term:
“In October, I had the wonderful opportunity to attend Michael Oak Waldorf School for three weeks in Grade 8 – and it was simply amazing! I don’t normally go to a Waldorf school, so a lot of things were completely new and exciting for me.
What struck me immediately was how incredibly open and friendly everyone there was. I was warmly welcomed on my first day and immediately felt at home. My classmates were very interested and asked lots of questions about my school in Germany. My teachers were also very open and made a great effort to teach me everything despite the language barrier. The lessons were also really lively and interesting, as I learnt lots of things that I don’t know anything about in Germany, such as Afrikaans and isi Xhosa.
I also had my first eurythmy class, which was very exciting because I didn’t know most of the movements and I was very surprised at how many sounds and movements you can remember. In woodwork, I was allowed to make a spoon. Mr Dowling then gave me a small bowl for my spoon as a present. I also had my first main lessons. The first two weeks were spent on landscaping. We were allowed to make our own 3D gardens in groups. In my third and final week, the topic was short stories, and we read and worked on several stories.
On one Saturday, there was a big school festival “The family fair”. There were so many people there, and everyone was in a good mood. I helped with the game “Shoot the balloon”.
Overall, my stay was a wonderful experience, and I am very grateful that I was able to experience it at Michael Oak.“

Join our beloved weekly art classes in a peaceful garden-facing studio (opposite the library). Pupils can arrive straight after school or other activities and settle in under supervision before class. We nurture creativity, self-esteem, and skill through diverse projects—from clay and paper mâché to pastels, ink, collage, and canvas prep—inspired by nature, South African artists, and current exhibitions.
3rd Term starts 31 July.

Gaia Waldorf School in Pinelands is seeking a suitably qualified Class 1 Waldorf Teacher to join their team from January 2027. They are looking for a creative, enthusiastic educator with appropriate Waldorf qualifications, SACE registration, and a genuine commitment to the growth and development of children within a collaborative Waldorf community.
