Dear Parents and Friends

As we enter the final week of the school year, a time of reflection, celebration, and the gentle winding down of the summer term, we would like to bring your attention to the arrangements for collecting school reports:

  • Reports will be available for collection on Monday 15 December, and Wednesday 17 December.
  • Please remember that Tuesday 16 December is a public holiday and the school will therefore be closed.
  • We encourage families to plan accordingly so that reports can be collected at a convenient time.
  • Please also note that the school administration office will close on 17 December for the holidays and will reopen on 12 January 2026.

As we move toward the end of the year, we thank you for your ongoing support and partnership with the school. May this final stretch be a gentle and uplifting one for all families. Wishing you a calm, productive and joyful week ahead.

Star Tree Festival

N.B. A special invitation:
From Monday 8th to Thursday 11th December, we will be singing together in the foyer from 7:45am to get into the festive community spirit. Everybody is welcome – children, parents, grandparents, teachers… Looking forward to seeing you there!

The stars spoke once to man,
It is world destiny that they are silent now.
To be aware of this silence
Can be painful for earthly humanity.
But in the deepening silence,
There grows and ripens
What human beings speak to the stars.
To be aware of this speaking
Can become strength for Spirit Man.

~ Rudolf Steiner, December, 1922

Event Details:

Arrival: Children to be in their classrooms at 6:30pm for a 6:45pm start.

Parent Seating: Parents may take their seats in the Big Hall by 6:40pm.

Dress Code: White top and dark pants for all children.

Who: This gathering is for our Primary School children. Our younger ones will have their own special moment in time.

Class Three Market Day Postponed

The Class 3 Market Day will no longer be part of the Friday Market. Instead, it will take place on Monday during first break and after school. Our Class 3 children will still be stepping into the role of budding entrepreneurs, running their carefully made stalls, practising money skills, and sharing the joy of giving back, with all proceeds going to charity.

The High School Soiree

As the year gently draws to a close, we warmly invite our high school families to a festive soiree filled with entertainment, laughter, and a bring-and-share feast.

Signs of Summer

Summer is beginning to show across the campus, with flowers opening in bright colour throughout the school grounds. Granadillas outside the small hall are beginning to grow, and the vegetable garden is sprouting fresh produce, offering clear signs of the season’s warmth.

Class 11 Eurythmy Performance

The Class 11 students presented a moving Eurythmy performance after months of dedicated practice. Their pieces explored the tension between chaos and order, showing how these two forces meet and shape one another through movement. It was a thoughtful and beautifully executed contribution from the class.

To jump to individual performances, timestamps are included in the description.

Buddies Picnic

The Class 10 and Class 1 students met on the oval this week for a buddies picnic to celebrate the nearing end of term. They shared snacks, enjoyed the fresh air, and spent time playing together. It was a relaxed gathering that gave the younger children a chance to connect with their older buddies and brought a warm close to the term for both classes.

End Of Term Crafts

Students have been pouring great care and steady effort into completing their crafts before the end of term. Alongside this work, they have also been creating beautiful pieces for the Star Tree Festival, such as the beaded and crocheted trees shown below.

High School Art Showcase

This week’s artwork showcases a variety of projects, including Class 8’s ‘Merging of Time’ and ‘Secret Garden,’ lino prints from Class 9, and a featured piece by Amarah Edwards, ‘Disconnected,’ along with her matric portfolio.

Merging of Time – Students staged a photo of themselves recreating an artwork of their choice. They then used the photo as a reference to create a painting in the style of the original artwork. (you can click between the final and reference photos below)

Secret Garden – Students focused on the elements of art and the principles of design as they recreated a magical garden using a variety of mediums and techniques.

Lino Print – printmaking technique where an image is carved into linoleum, inked, and then pressed onto paper to create a bold, textured artwork.

Recap From The AGM

The school community gathered last week for the Annual General Meeting, beginning the evening in our lovely Waldorf way with shared singing that gently brought presence and togetherness into the space. Alison Tobler then offered a thoughtful contribution on behalf of the College of Teachers, sharing a story about adaptation and its significance in the life of our school.

The meeting moved through its formal business, including the approval of the previous year’s minutes, the adoption of the Annual Financial Statements, and the confirmation of auditors for the upcoming financial year.

The proposed slate of Trustees was presented and approved, marking the beginning of a new governance cycle for the year ahead. Attendees were also able to engage in a short question-and-answer session, creating space for clarification and dialogue.

The school extends its appreciation to all who attended and participated, helping to hold the continued growth and stewardship of the community.

The Hunt For Brass Candle Holders

The High School is looking for brass candle stick holders to be used at our High School Soiree next week on the 10th of December.

Donations will lovingly be kept as part of the school decor and set design.

If you are able to lend and not donate your candle stick, we will make sure to return it before school closes. Please make sure to mark them with your name & cell number.

Drop off at reception no later then Wednesday morning please.

High School Facuty Outing

A heartfelt thank you to the Matric Parents of 2025 for gifting our high school teachers a wonderful afternoon of bowling at the Constantia Bowls Club. It was an incredible team-building experience, and many laughs were had by all.

The opportunity to relax, connect, and share in this experience with colleagues was truly refreshing and very much needed. We are grateful for the time together as a high school faculty.

Lost Property Will Go On Display

Lost property will be on display next week Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, as the cupboard is comfortably full and ready for families to reclaim their lost items. All parents are encouraged to come by and see if any familiar items are waiting to be collected.

End Of Year Gift For Support Staff

Let’s come together as a school community to honour the people who keep Michael Oak running smoothly every day. Join us in gifting our support staff a heartfelt end-of-year surprise.

Looking for an Exchange Berlin-Capetown

From Jan 2027 for 3 months

Hello Everyone,

My name is Luiza, I am 16 years old and I was born on January 5th. I attend a Waldorf school in Berlin, Germany and I am currently in 10th grade.

I come from Berlin and live quite centrally with my mother, my brother (15), my little sister (7) and my stepfather. I would describe my family as open-minded, loving, warm and welcoming.

My favourite subjects are Art and Spanish, and I also enjoy Sports. Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry are
not really my favourite subjects.

Looking For a Tutor

I am in Cape Town for a month with my 6 year old son, Jude. We have come over from Zimbabwe to have a baby here, and while we are here, I am looking for a tutor who could spend a little time with Jude a few times a week.

I would love some help with reading, handwriting and maths to keep him learning while we are away from home. I am trying my best, but I am definitely not a teacher and could use some help!

If you know of someone who might be interested, please get in touch.
